Author: If you?re a hardcore movie fan you know that not every hit movie is a hit right away. Some movies take years and years to build up a following, but when they finally take off, they wind up having an extremely long life. Cult movies often build up legions of fans who are hungry for every detail they can get about their favorite films and snatch up film related merchandise as quickly as they can.
One film that definitely qualitifies as a cult favorite is the Big Lebowski. This movie didn?t do much at the box office when it first opened, but does big business in merchandise and DVDs today. Just stop by any t-shirt shop in the country and you?ll likely see a whole host of Big Lebowski t-shirts featuring the iconic face of the Dude.
Of course, some cult films actually did pretty well when they first came out and have just never stopped winning over new fans. Caddyshack is a great example of this phenomenon. It?s one of the most quotable films ever made and a Caddyshack shirt boasting the Bushwood Country Club label is still afavorite amongst golf fanatics everywhere.
So just remember, big time movies don?t always seem big time at first glance.
