Accreditation means that a governing body for a particular domain has approved the course, and it is extremely important to help you decide who to trust with your online college. If a course is not approved, you need to know why.
There may be a series of courses that have not yet received approval of an association or governing body but still offer a good university education online. For example, the company has applied for accreditation but have not yet been evaluated, in which case you can actually check with specific organizations they are currently assessing the application for certification. Another reason may be that there is no appropriate body that the course can be accredited. It is less likely, but nevertheless constitutes a valid reason and no indication that the proposed course would be useful to advance your college education online.
